While discussing childhood memories with Katie, I discovered that we and the children we used to know had a common memory: monster ducks at the local feeding pond. These may be geese of some sort, but to a child, look instead like deformed/mutated ducks. Adding to the idea of them being monsters, they are very aggressive, and have been known to chase children (or at least me). To this day they still occasionally surface in my nightmares.
It has been suggested that perhaps these are Muscovy ducks. I saw one (see picture below). Whether it was its smaller size or friendly disposition, it failed to fill me with the same dread that true monster ducks do.
